Yes you heard that right. Reef’s Reptiles will be retiring at the end of October. We can hardly believe that is ten years since we first started the business. And when we first developed the idea with big hopes and dreams we had no clue as to just how amazing the journey would be. The success and reputation that we have built up over the years has far far exceeded anything we could have imagined in those early days. There were times when we questioned our decision, because running Reef’s Reptiles is not just job. It is a lifestyle choice. Many of our animals have been rescues, requiring lots and lots of care and attention which is very rewarding but very time consuming. We certainly do not leave our work commitments at work, at the end of the day. We have worked with the most incredible animals and also the most incredible people of all ages. Some of whom have become good friends too! Doing birthday parties (sometimes year on year for the same children), working with the MYA and in schools, colleges, nurseries, care homes, hospitals and work places! Many of our fans follow us around from event to event during the summer when we bring our animals to meet everyone at fun days etc and we also have lots of followers who enjoy seeing pictures of our animals on FB and twitter. So I am sure it will be evident to everyone who knows us just how hard it is to say goodbye to something which we love so much. This is not a decision we have taken lightly and you have no idea how hard it is for us to even consider downsizing our animal family but Reef and I are not getting any younger and we would like to be able to spend more time with our non-reptilian family. Holidays and traveling have just not been possible for the last 10 years because of the amount of dependants we have. Obviously we will still have plenty of pets! Just not quite as many. Some of our animals will be going to stay with family friends and very carefully selected animal lovers. We would like to thank everyone who has helped us in any way including our amazing vet, our bookkeepers, John (our website wizard), and of cause ALL of our many many many customers! It has been amazing. We have not retired just yet LOL so please keep following us…I will update you on our next exploits and plans for the future.
